Depression
Often when we hear people say "I feel so depressed" but in fact they are simply feeling a bit down or sad. Depression, however, is something completely different. The condition of depression affects people in many different ways and can vary in how sever it is. You might have heard of depression being described as being: mild, moderate or sever.
Obviously depression affects a wide scope of people from different backgrounds, but it had been found that it affects a wide number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
What is it?
When you feel sad or miserable about something these feelings often go away after a short period of time. If you still feel the same or worse for a long time, for example over a few weeks, if you're struggling to get rid of your feelings or if they come back frequently then this could be a sign that you are suffering from a form of depression. In its simplest form, depression doesn't affect your life too much. You'll feel down and you'll have those feelings around in your head so it can make life harder. Sever (clinical depression) is very serious and can be life threatening as it could make people feel suicidal or give up on life.
